And Angela's roommate - what was her problem? Jealousy? Gwen - I still don't like her as well as Helene and Brooke. She's starting to come around personality wise though - but I still think she's too uptight for Aaron. Helene - I like her better this week than I did last. She's just be cautious, I think. Her family was so cute - and you can tell they all get along so well. She presents a challenge to Aaron. He's probably always had a way with women, he definitely has charisma....but Helene is making him work a little harder. Brooke - she's precious. Her family was so sweet and so much fun! It just seemed so odd that they stopped off to meet her before going on to meet Angela's family. Especially because the roommate was so difficult and confrontational - and Angela said before they got there that her roommate was a little strange! I think it was a bad move on her part - Making Aaron uncomfortable was not good strategy and Angela herself didn't seem comfortable with the roommate. Aaron said he wanted to see how the girls acted with their family and friends, and I don't think this stop at the roommate's house was a good idea. She's not family - Why did they even go there? I think that Angela deliberately sabotaged Aaron's visit. I believe she knew she was picked lastly and that she would not get a rose, so she asked her roommate to ask ridiculous things and told her family to ignore Aaron. He was so uncomfortable there. She even said at the end how cold a person she was. Pam 533 From: post1987 Date: Wed Oct 30, 2002 10:14pm Subject: God Bless Brooke! She is one sharp woman. What I have heard her say is very smart, literate, funny etc. She out does everyone including Helene even though Aaron may be more attracted to her. Now her uncle is a different story. Suggesting that her cousin(?) may kill him if he does wrong to Brooke is not even remotely appropriate. It doesn't matter if it's a joke. Angela and her parents were pathetic. As for her roomate, she belongs in an asylum. Anyway, Angela is not capable of emotion which is confirmed after she wasn't picked. No crying, no nothing. I think Gwen is very pretty, but I don't get the feeling that he feels totally relaxed around her because she is more sweet and serious, where Helene and Brook are both very easy to be around and have great personalities along with the great looks. I thinks it all going to come down to next weekend--like it did on the first Bachelor. The "overnight" show. I don't think that Helene is a cold fish like Shannon was, just that she has her guard up. I also like Brook very much, but sometimes I'm not so sure she is 100% sincere about him with that cute southern accent of hers. Time will tell!!! I did love Helene's family though--you can see where she gets her great personality from. Yes--Angela's roommate was a total weirdo!!! I was almost embarrassed for the poor girl!! I know girls like Angela though that are just shy and unsure of themselves so they are afraid to show emotion. That's sad though. How old was Angela? She should be past being that way. Maybe a Dale Carnagie class would help!!! :>) LOL!!! Helene's family seemed so cool, I think Aaron could get along real well with them, even though I don't really like Helene. To me Gwen's family seemed just as boring as Gwen. I am from Alabama, just thirty minutes from Albertville where Brooke is from, and it's great to see such a wonderful family representing the South. I was a bit embarrased when the first question from the family was "Do you like Nascar?" which just perpetuates the stereotypes about Alabama. But my dad would give his right arm for all that Crimson Tide stuff, especially the Bear Bryant hat...that room was probably worth about 20,000 dollars! it was amazing. Anyways, my husband and I laughed when we saw the spread of food at Brooke's family's home. Fried chicken and potato salad! That's a definite Southern menu! Angela just screwed herself by bringing Aaron to meet her family...if my dad had got on me like that about my finances on national tv I would have went off! Gwen is sweet but I don't think she is appealing as the other ladies. She's too starry eyed for me. I like Helene because she has Aaron on his toes and he likes a challenge. I think he would grow bore with the challenges though because you have to stroke a man's ego sometimes. I'm partial to Helene because she's a South Jersey girl. Brooke is sweet also (a younger version of Gwen) but is more vibrant than her. I could see Aaron and her dating. The stepdad is a little crazy. I thought the remark about the uncle going to kill him if he hurt Brooke was a little rude. Angela - I really think she is a nice person and is reserved with her feelings. She doesn't know how to play the game though. Because she has been reserved with her feelings and I think she has done this to keep from getting hurt, she didn't open up. I agree that she sabotage her date by letting Aaron meet the crazy roommate. I think the family ignored Aaron because I think they knew she would lose and why expend the effort to get to know somebody. The family seems a bit camera shy. I'm trying to figure out how Angela got on the show. She isn't personable on camera. I'm amazed she got to the final four. "THE BACHELOR" contestant Brooke Smith tearfully confessed on TV that her dad is in prison. But she said she was too embarrassed to explain why. Now an ENQUIRER investigation has uncovered the shocking truth: Brooke's 46-year-old father Billy Randolph Smith Jr. is a kiddie porn fiend and a serial rapist now serving a long prison sentence! "He's a wicked sexual deviant who preys on young girls," said police Lieutenant Steve Isbell of Dyersburg, Tenn., Smith's hometown. Brooke, 22, of Albertville, Ala., is one of 25 contestants vying for bachelor Aaron Buerge on ABC's hit television series "The Bachelor." On each episode, Buerge, 28, eliminates a few contestants and the last girl standing will win his heart. Brooke is a front-runner, who shared a steamy hot-tub date with Buerge. In the October 16 episode, she told him her father is incarcerated, but she still didn't tell him why. And no wonder -- according to court documents obtained by The ENQUIRER, Smith is a sex fiend with a criminal record that includes a long list of shocking offenses. Smith was charged with one count of first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sodomy 12 years ago. His victim, Georgia Downs, claimed he broke into her home in the early hours of Dec. 31, 1989, and raped her at knifepoint. When Downs resisted, Smith slashed her and attempted, but failed, to force her into deviant sex acts. Ultimately, the first-degree rape charge ended in a mistrial, and Smith was given probation for sodomy. On May 25, 1992, Smith abducted a 14-year-old girl from a street in Boaz, Ala., drove her to his home and raped her at gunpoint. Smith was arrested and pleaded guilty to rape. He served just three years. The rape victim's mother told The ENQUIRER, "Billy Smith ruined my baby's life. She has never been the same since Billy raped her. Billy robbed her of her childhood -- and he's robbed other innocent girls of theirs, too." In 1999, Smith struck again. "He met a 16-year-old Maryland girl over the Internet and actually went to her city twice and had sex with her," Lt. Isbell told The ENQUIRER. "When she tried to end the relationship, Smith threatened to expose her by sending e-mails to her school. The girl told her mother, who alerted police. "While we were investigating we found Smith had lured another 17- year-old girl to his house through the Internet. He had actually driven to her hometown in Ohio, picked her up and brought her back to Tennessee. Her parents thought she was dead!" Smith was convicted of interstate transport of a minor for sex, using a computer to coerce, and possession of kiddie porn and is now serving time at Butner Federal Prison in North Carolina until 2011. "I'm proud of my daddy," Brooke insisted on the show. One of Brooke's pals told The ENQUIRER: "Brooke's living in fear that other people will judge her because of her father's mistakes. It's eating her up inside. The reason she waited to tell Aaron Buerge about her father's criminal history is because she was scared of getting booted off the show." http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AMERICAN_IDOLS_/ --- In The_Bachelor_Club@y..., texi wrote: > At 16:58 10/31/2002 +0000, you wrote: > >I read on another message board he got 8 years for rape and kiddie porn, but > >I'm not sure whether to believe that or not. > > My husband heard on a local radio program that he was a serial rapist. > Don't know if it's true, but I am glad the show "didn't go there". 569 From: Jody Date: Thu Oct 31, 2002 11:16am Subject: Re: Brooke's Daddy i agree i am so gla dthe show did not go in to detail about what he did..but if he did do something like that then brook needs to shut up about being so proud of him 570 From: Jody Date: Thu Oct 31, 2002 11:18am Subject: Re: The Roll Tide Room lol..i was thinking the same thing!!!! -- In The_Bachelor_Club@y..., "Kim" wrote: > This is just a thought of my own.......last night when Brooke was > saying "No one ever gets to see the roll tide room, unless J.D. > really likes them", I was thinking to myself "Yeah right, no matter > if he likes Aaron or not, he just wants America to see that room!" 571 From: natchez_past Date: Thu Oct 31, 2002 11:18am Subject: Re: Brooke's Daddy Be careful posting anything from the Enquirer...... Offshore gaming company BetWWTS.com is listing Gwen (ABC has not released the women's last names) as the overwhelming favorite to "win" a marriage proposal on the ABC reality series "The Bachelor." The 31-year-old pharmaceutical consultant has been given 1 to 2 odds (i.e., paying out $1 for every $2 bet) to be chosen by the eligible man, Aaron Buerge. The oft-tearful college student, Brooke, is the next likely candidate, at 2 to 1 odds. The ambivalent school psychologist, Helene, is listed at 14 to 2, while the rarely-seen nurse Angela is the long shot at 25 to 1. "From the start of the first episode there has always seemed to be chemistry between Aaron and Gwen, our odds-on favorite," says Buck Churchill, chief bet manager of BetWWTS.com. "Not only did she rank high on the compatibility tests before the show, but Gwen is also the only woman the bachelor has mentioned as being wife material." The remaining four women will be introducing Buerge to their families on Wednesday's (Oct. 30) episode, and one wannabe wife will be dismissed. 578 From: ladyyredd@aol.com Date: Thu Oct 31, 2002 10:06am Subject: Re: Re: Spoiler - Tonight's Episode maybe she's related to psycho christi? lol In a message dated 10/31/2002 9:23:37 AM Eastern Standard Time, ablondevenus@y... writes: > And what's the > deal with her roommate? her roommate is definitely insecure...that > was awful! > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] 579 From: natchez_past Date: Thu Oct 31, 2002 3:06pm Subject: Re: Brooke's Daddy When Brooke is saying how proud she is of her Daddy, is she talking about her real Dad or the one she calls Dad? She is one sharp woman. What I have heard her say is very smart, literate, funny etc. She out does everyone including Helene even though Aaron may be more attracted to her. Now her uncle is a different story. Suggesting that her cousin(?) may kill him if he does wrong to Brooke is not even remotely appropriate. It doesn't matter if it's a joke. Angela and her parents were pathetic. As for her roomate, she belongs in an asylum. Anyway, Angela is not capable of emotion which is confirmed after she wasn't picked. No crying, no nothing. Judging by her family, I can see why. -post, (rooting for Brooke all the way!) Yahoo!
