Episode 1 Air Date: 04/07/2004 The newest installment of The Bachelor begins with a preview of the upcoming season, and the news that one of the 25 women is a spy, who will tell the Bachelor everything she hears in the Bachelorette house. We then get to meet Jesse Palmer, the new Bachelor, and learn about his family, past and football career. We also learn that he is a scholar who holds two degrees, and is a worldly traveler. We meet Jesse's best friend Nick, who is the husband of Jesse's spy. Some of his teammates also come by, and they talk about Jesse, and how he is ready to meet the woman of his dreams. We also get to meet the spy, who's face remains cloaked in mystery. As Jesse leaves for LA, Jesse's teammates Tiki Barber and James Finn join Amani Toomer to look at the photos of the 25 bachelorettes and give their thoughts and opinions. We then get to meet each of the girls as they get ready for the first night's party. As the girls get made up and dressed, they express their excitement and nervousness about meeting Jesse. Jesse arrives at the Bachelor Pad and is greeted by Chris. Chris gives Jesse a brief tour, and then sits down with Jesse to talk about what he's gotten himself into. Jesse tells Chris that he knows nothing in his life has prepared him for what is about to happen. Chris asks Jesse why he is doing this, and Jesse tells him that it's difficult to meet genuine people when you are a professional athelete, and the opportunity to meet twenty-four sincere women who don't know his background is too great to pass up. Jesse tells Chris that he is looking for someone who has their own life, and someone who is willing to discover and experiment with a different lifestyle. Finally, Jesse says that if he meets an amazing woman, he can definitely see himself proposing at the end of this journey. The First Party Chris takes Jesse out front to meet the women as they arrive in their limousines. After they're all inside, Chris tells Jesse that tonight is going to be a little different. Jesse is given one rose to give to the lady who he wants to stay, based solely on his first impression of the bachelorettes. Jesse then enters and meets the women in a group for the first time. As Jesse begins to spend time with the girls one or two at a time, the spy also gets working, trying to get to the bottom of each girl's intentions. Some of Jesse's first impressions included being surprised by Dolores' interest in football (which didn't sit well with Jesse); shock at Jessica H's making fun of the Florida Gators, Jesse's alma mater; a strong attraction to Mandy; and pleasure at receiving a stuffed gator from Jessica B. Jesse also enjoyed speaking french with Anne-Catherine. Jesse finally reveals his choice for the First Impression Rose, and offers it to Trish, who gladly accepts. She returns to the girls, who immediately ask what the rose means. Trish tries not to flaunt the rose, but some of the other girls are all a little jealous of her. Jesse does get some time with the spy, who privately tells him her first impressions. As Jesse fields questions from all of the girls in one big group, Chris pulls him aside to take him to the deliberation room. Jesse tells Chris that he is starting to believe that one of these women could be his family. Jesse explains he chose Trish for the First Impression Rose because he thought she was not only beautiful, but also very confident and fun. Chris leaves Jesse behind to look at the photos of the women and to deliberate on the other 14 he will invite to stay. The Rose Ceremony Jesse tells the girls that he's never been in a tougher spot in his life, and he feels undeserving to be with so many wonderful women. He tells them he wishes he had more time to get to know them all, and then begins handing out the roses. In addition to Trish, he offers roses to Kristi, Anne-Catherine, Mandy, Celeste, Jesse, Mandy J., Jenny S., Amber, Tara, Jean Marie, Jessica B., Julie, Suzie, and Katie. After Katie accepts the final rose, though, Jesse pulls Chris away to talk to him before they send the ladies off. Jesse explains that he forgot the name of the bachelorette he wanted to offer the rose to — Karen. He did not want to offer a rose to Katie. Jesse decides that he's gotten himself into this mess, and he will get himself out of it. Chris suggests telling the truth, but also inviting Katie to stay, if she'd like. Jesse goes back in, and explains that he made a mistake, and invites Katie to stay anyways — which she does. Jesse then offers the final rose to Karen. Episode 2 Air Date: 04/14/2004 Going into the second episode, Chris greets the ladies in the living room of the Bachelorette's house. Chris tells the women that there will be two group dates and one one-on-one date — and that Jesse doesn't know it, but the first impression rose he gave to Trish has determined that she will be his solo date. First Group Date: Sledding in Lake Tahoe With: Tara, Mandy J., Katie, Celeste, Julie, Karen and Jessica B. After learning the first date box has arrived, the women gleefully rip it open and learn that Mandy J., Celeste, Jessica B., Julie, Tara, Karen and Katie are going on a plane ride to a "winter wonderland." Jesse picks the girls up, and they take a plane to Lake Tahoe, where they spend the day sledding and tubing. The group take turns sliding down the snowy slopes, and the girls begin to size each other up. Some of the girls notice that Jessica B. is acting very aggressive in her pursuit of Jesse. Jesse takes Katie aside, where he tells her he was amazed at how well she handled his calling the wrong name at the last rose ceremony, and he looks forward to getting to know her even better. Opting to relax after the sun sets, Jesse and his dates take a dip into a hot tub, champagne in hand. Jesse takes Julie aside, who he confesses he's very attracted to, and wants to learn where her head is. She tells Jesse that after she's done cheerleading, she wants to open up a studio for kids. She also tells him that she loves kids, and wants at least four. Jesse later confides that he was appreciative of her willingness to be open with him. Ready for more alone time, Jesse next takes Mandy J. to a separate hot tub, where he explains that he's been single for a while now, and that he is envious of his teammates who are sharing their lives with someone special. He continues to explain that he's concerned about finding someone who sees him for who he is, and not for what he does. Jesse later confesses that he was losing himself in Mandy J., and that he thinks she's intelligent and gorgeous. Simultaneously, at the Bachelorette's house, the other ladies spend the day out at the pool. Some of the girls get very critical of Trish when she changes into a thong bikini to sunbathe. That night, in the kitchen, the remaining talk about what they think guys expect from their women these days, and Trish explains how you just need to marry rich, have a cook, hire a nanny, order out, and hire a trainer. She goes on to explain that she's had the opportunity to be with wonderful people who are also wealthy, and that she doesn't need to settle. Jenny S. confesses that she thinks Trish is fooling Jesse, as Trish hates children and thinks money is very important. The date box arrives for Trish, which also contains a certificate for her to get her hair and make-up done by acclaimed hair stylist Cristophe, for what appears to be a date to the opera. Back at the house the next morning, some of the girls are still upset with Trish's thong sunbathing, and the tensions only increase when Trish gets her private beauty session with Cristophe. After she's made-up, Trish manages to offend the house again when she tells them she think's she's fabulous. That night, Jesse arrives, dressed to the nines, to take Trish on their date. First One-On-One Date: Dinner and Opera With: Trish Inside the Orpheum Theatre, the couple sits in their own box as they drink champagne and read the program for their private performance. While they sip champagne, Trish flirts very heavily with Jesse, telling him that she's a good kisser — she even admits that she wants to kiss him. After taking in the opera, the curtain drops, only to rise again almost immediately to reveal a dinner table set for two. The couple moves on-stage and sits down to dinner, where Trish admits she's thought about not having children, which catches Jesse off-guard. He tells her that having children is important to him; Trish replies that she's not the type to have four kids. Trish's honesty has Jesse entranced, and he later describes Trish as "the real deal." After the date, in the limousine back to the house, Trish and Jesse share the first kiss of the series. Excitement tears through the house when the next date box arrives, where they learn Mandy C., Amber, Anne-Catherine, Suzie, Jenny, Kristin, Jean Marie and Jesse are invited to an outdoor date. The Spy confesses she can't wait to get private time with Jesse, to tell him what she's seen and heard. In the hot tub, some of the girls recall Trish describing herself as a "gold-digging, money-grubbing whore," and other things Trish has said that makes it clear to them she's not the one for Jesse. Second Group Date: Football and Dinner With: Amber, Jenny S., Kristi, Suzie, Jesse, Anne-Catherine, Mandy, and Jean Marie Jesse arrives the next day to pick up the girls for their park date, relieved that the Spy will be with him. They immediately break into two teams to play a friendly game of football, and then go into a beautiful house for dinner, where the girls get to ask Jesse questions. Kristin asks Jesse about a Q&A Jesse did where he stated he didn't want to be married until he was 30, and Jesse explains that things have changed drastically since he did that interview. Jesse explains that he's played the field and had a good time, but then puts his foot in his mouth when he tells the group that he didn't like waking up and seeing a stranger there beside him — and that what seemed like a good idea the night before, in fact, wasn't. Jesse's answer rubs Kristin the wrong way, who later confesses that anyone who would do that is not the type of man she's looking for. Jesse then takes some private time with the spy, to ask her for her guidance. Once they are alone, the spy is revealed to be Jenny S., and Jesse takes the opportunity to talk with her about the girls. When Jesse tells Jenny that he had an amazing time with Trish, Jenny tells him she thinks Trish is extremely high-maintanence, and talks constantly about money. Jenny tells Jesse that the woman she likes best for him so far is Tara. The Rose Ceremony The ladies arrive on a rainy night for the next rose ceremony, and during the party, Tara opens up to Jenny about how uncomfortable she is talking with Jesse. After getting some good advice from Jenny, Tara takes Jesse aside for a face-to-face conversation, and asks him about the "waking up to a stranger" comment. Jesse tells Tara that he's not like that anymore, and he wants to find someone to be with and fall in love with. Jesse was caught off-guard by Tara's questions. Tara comes away feeling comfortable that Jesse is here for the right reasons. Jesse then steps aside with Trish — and Jenny. Jenny notices that Trish is not the same with Jesse as she is with the other girls. Jesse then meets Kristin in a private room, where she tells him that she knows in her heart that he is not the one for her. She goes on to tell him that it wouldn't be fair to herself, him or the other girls who want to get to know him better. Jesse tells her he's glad she spoke up, because he wanted to give her a rose. Jesse confesses that he's upset and disappointed with her decision. Chris collects Jesse, and they head to the Deliberation Room. Jesse then returns, ready for the Rose Ceremony. Jesse tells the girls that he's tried to open himself up to them, so they can see who he really is. He then offers roses to Katie (who asks "As in me?"), Tara, Jessica B., Trish, Mandy J., Jenny S., Karen, Suzie, Jesse, and Julie. Episode 3 Air Date: 04/21/2004 The third episode begins with Trish sitting at the kitchen table with Jesse's spy, Jenny, talking about how she did have a great time with Jesse, but she's not going to let herself get carried away just yet, as she could be going home — a very sound approach to the dating process so far. When Jenny tells Trish that she thinks true love begins with friendship Trish tells her that with friendship, she would just get bored. The first date box arrives, and Tara brings it in for all to open. The box opens to reveal that Suzie is the recipient of the next one-on-one date. First One-On-One Date: Dinner and a Movie With: Suzie Suzie is thrilled to have been chosen for the date, and Jenny is also happy with the pick. As Jesse arrives to pick Suzie up, he confesses that this week is very important to him, as there are only nine women left that are really close in his mind, and he needs to determine which is the right one to spend the rest of his life with. Trish confesses that she thinks she's on a different level than Suzie, because Jessie is looking for a fit, and Trish is, in her own words, "elegant, professional, sophisticated…not a blathering idiot." Jesse and Suzie arrive at a private movie theatre, where a romantic dinner has been set up for them. Jesse reveals that Suzie was chosen for the date, as they scored teh closest ont he compatibility test, and Jesse tells Suzie that if he could pick who he thought would score the closest to him, it would indeed be Suzie. Back at the house, the ladies sit in the living room and play a game of "I Never…", in which each girl says something she's never done, and if any of the other girls have done that thing, they take a drink. Trish ends up drinking to quite a bit, including: -Never drinking before 21 -Never having sex in college -Never cheating on a boyfriend -Never having a one-night stand where she never talked to the guy again -Never had sex with more than one person in a day -Never having sex on a bathroom counter -Never having sex with more people than she can count on one hand (and both hands, and both hands and both feet) -Never kissing a married man When pressed on how many men Trish has slept with, she guesses between 30 and 35. She also admits to sleeping with a married man. To her credit, Trish acknowledges that she is very honest and open, and is probably very shocking to the other women in the house. Jenny sums up the game best when she says "you learn something new every day." Meanwhile, having finished dinner, Jesse and Suzie watch home movies of their baby pictures. After the movie is over, Jesse and Suzie kiss. They keep kissing in the limo on the way back to the Ladies' Villa, and Suzie confesses that Jesse is a great kisser, and she had a perfect date. Two-On-One Date: Pub Date and Massage With: Mandy J. and Trish Jesse picks up Mandy and Trish, aware that there may be tension on the date, as he doesn't think Mandy and Trish get along. The threesome head to a pub for their date, Jesse with the goal of finding out what it is about Trish that Jenny didn't like. Trish tells Jesse that she mentioned they made out on their first date, and they were shocked. Trish goes on to say that making out on the first date is something she does, and Jesse tells her that he actually doesn't kiss on the first date. He and Trish kiss again, and then all three shoot some pool. After the bar, the three head to a spa, where they get massages. The conversation turns to the subject of charity work, and Mandy J. and Jesse connect over their experiences. Trish feels isolated at that point, as she really has nothng to say about charity work. Jesse takes Mandy to the sauna for some alone time, which further makes Trish feel isolated. In the sauna, after telling her he wanted alone time with her all night, Jesse kisses Mandy J. After they return to Trish, Jesse mentions that he feels very attracted to Mandy J., and that Trish has had a bit of a rude awakening. Second One-On-One Date: Dinner and Dancing With: Tara Jesse picks Tara up, hoping to see if Tara will open up to him. Jenny confesses that she really wants the date to go well for Tara. Jesse first takes Tara to a dressing room filled with dresses for her to pick out, and makeup to get ready with. The two get dressed up, and Jesse takes her to an old-fashioned ballroom for dinner and dancing. After dinner, Jesse kisses Tara — who had specifically planned on not kissing Jesse, but later admitted it was really nice. Jesse confesses that dancing with Tara was wonderful, and that he wants to see her again. The last datebox arrives in the form of a toolbox, inviting the remaining six women to a construction date. As they make dinner, the girls talk about the last time they kissed someone. Trish admits that it was just three days before she left to be on the show, and it wasn't just kissing. Group Date: Habitat for Humanity Build With: Katie, Julie, Karen, Jessica B., Jenny S. and Jesse Jesse picks up the group and takes them to a Habitat for Humanity construction site, to build a house. Jess is upset about not having a romantic date, and doesn't like her chances of getting a rose at the next ceremony. At the house, the group begins painting and building, when Jesse takes Jenny aside to talk. They talk quickly about some of the girls, Jenny telling him that she thinks every aspect of Tara is right on. Jenny thinks Trish is open but the things she's open about are hurtful and hateful, the worst things she's ever heard. She tells Jesse about Trish sleeping with a married man, and that Trish really doesn't like children. She tells Jesse that if he ever married a woman like that, she wouldnt be able to be friends with him. Jesse realizes that he has to confront Trish about the things she's said. Afterwards, the group goes to the Bachelor pad for a swim in the hot tub, and Jesse grabs Jessica B. for some alone time. He tells her that he hates that he hasn't had one-on-one time with her, and Jessica tells him that if she goes home, she wants it to be because they're not right for each other, and not because they didn't get enough time together. Afterwards, in the hot tub, Jessica B. admits to the other girls that she's falling for Jesse. When asked if they kissed, Jessica B. does her best to not kiss-and-tell, but they eventually pry it out of her that they indeed did share a kiss. Jess seeks out gets alone with Jesse, and pours it on, caressing Jesse and trying to get close to him. Jesse later admits that she was coming on so strong, it really freaked him out. The Rose Ceremony Jesse enters the Rose Ceremony still unsure of which six girls he will choose. He is also trying to figure out if he wants Jenny to stay or go; if it was up to her, Jenny would go. Jesse gets Trish alone, and she tells him that she sees him as someone that she would be with for the long-term. Jesse seems to take her sincerity as genuine, and he gives her a kiss. Jesse takes Jenny aside again to talk about Trish, and Jenny tells him it's hard to say things he doesn't want to hear, but that's what she's there for. When asked about Karen, Jenny describes her as a diamond in the rough. Jesse returns from the private deliberation room, and the Rose Ceremony begins. Jesse tells the women that the past week has been incredible, and that it's no longer about first impressions, but rather about following his true feelings. He then offers roses to Mandy J., Suzie, Tara, Jessica B., Karen and Trish. After the ceremony, Julie is upset that Jesse didn't really want to get to know her. Jenny admits that she's a little worried about Jesse's final decision. Jess admits that she came to get over a broken heart, and instead had her heart broken again. Jesse admits he gave Trish a rose because it would be unfair to judge her solely on someone else's word. Episode 4 Air Date: 04/28/2004 A limo is on its way to the Ladies' Villa. It's occupant? A terrified Jenny, on her way back to reveal that she was Jesse's spy. A teary-eyed Jenny hopes the girls will be able to forgive her. In The Villa, Chris gathers the ladies in the living room. He tells them that this week, there will be three one-on-one dates, and one group date. And who's deciding who goes on which dates? Without revealing her name, Chris tells the girls it's one of Jesse's best friends, who he's known since college, and is married to his best friend. He then brings Jenny in the room, and the girls are stunned. Chris explains who Jenny really is, and the girls are speechless. Jenny tearfully apologizes to the girls, who begin to realize the situation they are now in, including Trish, who is appropriately wearing a shirt that reads "Gold Digger — Like a hooker…just smarter." Jenny tells the girls she knows who is getting the individual dates, and Chris leaves Jenny with the girls. Jenny then tells the girls that she didn't expect to grow so close to the remaining girls, and the girls explain that they think it's a good thing Jenny was in the house. Jenny then tells the girls about all the times she got to talk to Jesse. The other girls notice that Trish was unusually quiet and nervous about how things have changed. Trish confesses that she might be going home at the next ceremony. First One-On-One Date: Football Field Picnic With: Jessica B. The first date box arrives, filled with Jesse's high-school jacket and some pom-poms, for Jessica B. Jesse arrives in a convertible, and enters the house, noting the weird vibe. Before he leaves, he tells the girls that he knows they're probably a little confused over what's happened, but he hopes they realize that Jenny had the best intentions. Jesse and Jessica then drive to the Rose Bowl, where they have a picnic dinner on the middle of the field. They sit and talk for a while, and then Jesse gives Jessica a lesson throwing a football. After a while they sit back down, and a marching band comes on to the field and performs for the couple. Jessica immediately tells Jesse it's the best date she's ever been on. Jesse confesses he wishes the night would never end. After the band finishes, the two kiss for a while, enjoying the waning moments of their time together. Second One-On-One Date: Football Field Picnic With: Mandy J. Back at the Villa, the second box arrives for Mandy J. Trish begins to realize she's probably not going to get another solo date with Jesse. Jesse picks Mandy up to take her on a cruise and have dinner in Newport Beach. The couple board a luxury yacht, and they go for a beautiful ride out on the water. While on the bow at sunset, they share a kiss. Once the sun sets, they disembark and head to dinner, where they talk about her family, and if they would want to meet Jesse. Jesse admits he's a little skeptical of Mandy despite having an amazing date, because she's been in pageants and knows how to play to a judge or audience. She tells him that if she's not being herself at all times with him, it's not going to help anyone, as she doesn't want to have her heart broken. Jesse and Mandy J. end the night sipping champagne in a hot tub, and Jesse confesses that it's confusing, because every date he goes on becomes the best date he's ever been on. The next date box arrives, inviting Karen, Trish and Suzie on a date. Karen confesses that she's upset that Tara has secured the last solo date, and she would not get the chance to get to know Jesse on her own. At dinner in the kitchen, the girls grill Trish about what she's looking for, and Trish says she's only looking for someone who will treat her well, and that finding a guy has nothing to do with money. She says she's not going to settle for someone she's not in love with. The other ladies think that she's changed since Jenny revealed herself, but when Karen asks her if she could fall in love with a poor man, Trish does answer honestly: "no." Trish confesses that she felt that she was being attacked by women she doesn't really care for. Group Date: Indian Picnic and Elephant Ride With: Karen, Trish and Suzie The next morning, Karen, Suzie and Trish wait for Jesse to pick them up. Trish admits that she's very angry about the situation, and wants to be alone with Jesse to talk. The group date arrives at a tent set up in a park for lunch, and Jesse turns to the subject of Jenny. He reiterates that her intentions were really honorable, and that she was there for him. Karen and Suzie assure Jesse that they understand, and when Jesse mentions that Jenny has given him a lot of insight, Trish asks Jesse if they can talk privately. Once Trish and Jesse leave the tent, Karen and Suzie enjoy a moment mocking Trish trying to explain away what Jesse may have heard. Alone under a tree, Trish opens the door for Jesse to ask her about what he's heard. She honesty tells him that she has a past, and she's done things she probably shouldn't have. Jesse asks her how she got involved dating an older married man. She tells Jesse that it just happened, and he presses her on how it happened, if she slept with him, and if she knew he was married. Jesse tells her that it seems to him that there was a complete lack of respect for the wife and family. Jesse tells Trish that he heard how she reacted when the wife walked in, and Trish gets upset and asks him what he's heard. When Jesse tells the story he had been told, she explains that was a separate story from her college days, and this is exactly the kind of rumor-spreading that angers her. Jesse asks her what will stop her from ever doing that kind of thing again, and she tells him that she's a different woman now, and doesn't want to be like that anymore. Jesse confesses that there's still a lot about her that he likes, and he's not going to judge her based only on what Jenny said. He thanks her for the opportunity to sit down and talk, and Trish tells him she's glad, too. Jesse tells her that he's noticed she seemed upset, but that she's good. They kiss, and he thanks her for her honesty. They kiss again before returning to the date. Jesse then takes Karen away, as he knows the least about her at this point in the process. They talk for a little bit, and then kiss, which makes Karen feel a bit better. The group then goes for elephant rides, and Jesse takes advantage of the opportunity to go back to the tent with Suzie, where they, too, kiss. After the date, Jesse drops the girls off and says goodbye, but before he can leave, Trish catches him outside and asks if they're OK. Jesse tells her they're good, and he again tells her that he appreciates her honesty. They kiss one last time, and Jesse admits he was impressed Trish came back out to wrap things up. Third One-On-One Date: Tara's Favorite Things With: Tara The next night, Jesse arrives to pick Tara up on a date made of all of her favorite things — her favorite meal, favorite car, and her favorite clothes on a man, for a few examples. Jesse admits he wants to see her open up and feel like herself around him. He brings her back to the Bachelor Pad, where he reveals a table has been arranged for dinner on a giant bed of pink flowers (pink is her favorite color). They toast to her favorite things, and she tells him she couldn't imagine anything better. They talk about the possibilities of finding love in such a short time, and Jesse reveals that his parent had only six dates before they eloped. After dinner, they move in front of the fireplace, Jesse hoping to get to know her more. Back at the house, since it's the last night, Jessica, Karen, Mandy J. and Suzie spend the night drinking. They get drunk and then jump in the pool, where they have chicken fights and frolick. Remianing inside, alone, is Trish, who seems bored by the younger ladies' antics. Still on the date, Jesse asks Tara what the one thing is that she would look for in him, and she tell him honesty. He agrees that honesty is the first thing he'd look for, and when she tells him she's finally opening up, he kisses her. While they are kissing, she pulls away, uncomfortable with the cameras and stuation. She tells him that she's nervous, and he asks her if it's the situation or her. She tells him she wants to go with her feelings, but isn't sure what to do. The Rose Ceremony The women arrive at the Rose Ceremony nervous about the upcoming ceremony. The grop forgoes the usual party atmosphere, and Jesse and Chris come straight in. Jesse tells the women that he feels lucky to be standing with the six women, and he's thought a lot about this decision. He also tells them he's excited about taking the next step. He then offers roses to Tara, Jessica B., Trish and Mandy J. Suzie admits that she was caught off-guard, and she feels disappointed and sick. While saying goodbye to Jesse, Karen warns him to be careful of Trish, which Jesse later admits hit him right between the eyes, and he is now wondering if he made a mistake. While Karen is on her way out, Tara tells Trish to not blame anything else on Jenny, because Trish knows she doesn't deserve to be there. Trish confesses that she thinks Tara is a spoiled bitch who has a lot of issues, and is insecure and ugly on the inside. Episode 5 Air Date: 05/05/2004 First Hometown Date: Huntington Beach, California With: Jessica B. Jessica confides that her goal is to let Jesse know how she is feeling. When she asks him what he's looking for, Jesse tells her that he's looking for love, and he's excited to meet Jessica's family. Jessica tells him that she never would have accepted a rose from him if she was not serious about growing closer to him. Jesse and Jessica head to her parent's home where Jesse meets her family (mother Mary Lynn, brothers Kyle and Tyler, father Dan, grandmother Nana and grandfather Bobo). Jesse immediately comes under fire from Mary Lynn, who wants to know where Jesse is planning on living. When he admits that he loves New York City, Mary Lynn puts the heat on Jessica, asking if she's planning on transferring law schools. Jessica tries her best to tell her family that she is considering transferring elsewhere. Dan relates that there used to be a test for all of Jessica's suitors, but they have condensed it down to one question: "Will you respect our daugther, sister and granddaughter? Answer: Don't tell us, show us." Jessica and Mary Lynn sneak off to the kitchen during dinner to talk about Jesse, and Mary Lynn asks her if she's ready to take this step. Jessica tells her that if he's her soul mate, then she is. Mary Lynn confides that she hopes Jesse does not give Jessica a ring, because she thinks they're not ready. Jessica confides she thinks any parting with her mother will be bittersweet. Jessica walks Jesse out to the car, and Jessica confesses that she thinks she's falling for Jesse. Second Hometown Date: Andrews, Texas With: Mandy J. Waiting for Jesse, Mandy Jaye calls her father, hoping to be able to bring Jesse to meet him, but he says no. Mandy Jaye talks about the difficulties of coming from a divorced household, and how nerve-wracking it is under the circumstances. Jesse and Mandy sit down in the Andrews Country Club, where she breaks the news to Jesse that her father can't make it. She passes on his good wishes, and explains the situation to Jesse. Jesse confesses that with her guard down, he finally got the chance to see her as she really is. They then leave the clubhouse and drive to her mother Julie's home, where the meet Julie, step-father Danny and brother Brian. Mandy immediately takes Jesse to her pageant room to show her awards and pageant photos, which throws Jesse a bit, as he felt like he had just pushed past her pageant personality. Over dinner, the conversation stays on the subject of pageants, and Jesse wasn't thrilled that they had almost no questions for him. Danny takes Jesse aside, where Danny contines to talk about Mandy's pageant days, and Julie gives Mandy Jaye the thumbs up on Jesse. As Jesse leaves, he confesses that his goal for the day was to get to know her better, and he feels like that just didn't happen. Third Hometown Date: Paul's Valley, Oklahoma With: Tara Jesse drives out to meet Tara at her family farm, hoping to find Tara in a comfort zone, willing to open up more. Tara is anxious to see how her father and Jesse interact, as she thinks they are opposites. Jesse tries to get Tara to tell him what to expect from her dad, but she won't help. Jesse admits that he's a little nervous. Her father arrives with a shotgun, and then proceeds to take several other guns and an automatic rifle out of the SUV. Jesse admits that he's nervous around guns, as Tara starts to take target practice. After Tara is done, her dad starts using the automatic, scaring Jesse. Jesse is then handed a gun to fire a round or two, and with his first shot, hits a can. After shooting, they sit down and share some beers, where Jesse learns that Tara was taught that love isn't real, and that all men are dirtbags. At the end of the day, Tara admtis that she's having difficulty opening up to Jesse, but is doing her best. Jesse can see why Tara is so skeptical of men, given how she was raised. Fourth Hometown Date: Atlanta, Georgia With: Trish On his way to meet Trish at a hotel, Jesse admits that he's having doubts about Trish, and wants to know why the other girls dislike her so much. Jesse sits Trish down and asks her what she could have done or said to make the others feel that way. Trish tells Jesse that she doesn't know, and this is exactly why she's not friends with girls. Trish tells Jesse she's been dealing with these types of things her whole life. Jesse tells Trish that he does not want to be played, to which Trish gets up and walks out of the room for a moment to cool down. Trish comes back in and tells Jesse she can't keep doing this, and that she wants to be with him. She feels frustrated that she can't redeem herself, or make it better. Jesse tells her that he just wants her to be honest, and she can tell him anything. Jesse tells her that her honesty is amazing, and it doesn't matter to him if others like his wife — what matters is if he loves his wife, and she him. They have a drink, and then head to her parents' house, where they meet her sister Susan and parents Barbara and Tom. Trish's family accepts Jesse warmly, and Tom tells Jesse how he knew he was going to marry Barbara the first night he met her. Finally, Jesse and Trish get to be alone, and Trish reiterates that she came for the right reasons, and that she adores him. While he kisses her, the others talk about how Trish has dug her own grave. Chris comes and takes Jesse to the deliberation room, and Jesse finally feels like all of the women stepped up and told him how they feel. Jesse comes back from the room to find the ladies waiting for him. He tells them he loved meeting all of their fmilies, and it's obvious why they are all so amazing. He goes on to say he's delighted and surprised at how strong he feels right now, and it will be difficult to say goodbye to one of them tonight. He then offers roses to Jessica B., Tara, and Mandy J. As Jesse walks Trish out, the remaining ladies hug each other, and Tara says "He's gonna get a good girl no matter what happens." Jesse and Trish sit down outside, and he tells her that he thinks she's amazing and wonderful, but that they are not meant to be together.
