Episodes for The Bachelor 4 About the show... With the addition of many new twists and turns, including a surprise appearance by the Bachelor's mother at the first rose ceremony, an unexpected mini-rose ceremony during one of the dates that sends one woman home on the spot, a vote by the women themselves on who is the most — and least — deserving of a one-on-one date and the return of Jamie from The Bachelorette, who moves into the Ladies' Villa to give his perspective on the women, The Bachelor, an original one-hour primetime romance reality television series, returns for a fourth season. The charming and lovable Bob Guiney, who won the hearts of people across the country when he appeared as a suitor to Trista Rehn on The Bachelorette, is the star of the next installation of The Bachelor. Michigan native Guiney, who is best known for his wit and sincerity, hopes to meet a woman who shares his desire for a serious, long-term relationship, and even possibly marriage. Guiney will get to know these 25 women via a series of social gatherings and exotic, romantic dates — in groups of five with some, and individually with others. He will introduce some of the women to his closest friends and family, and will visit their hometowns and meet their parents in an effort to determine the woman with whom he is most compatible. The Bachelor follows a gradual process of elimination, as he goes from the 25 whom he meets initially, then narrows it to 15 by presenting them with a single, red rose. He will then decide on 10, then six, four, three, two and, ultimately, on the one woman who captures his heart. However, at any point along the way, should a woman decide that she is no longer interested in him, she may reject his invitation to continue dating. The Bachelor provides an in-depth, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lives of each participant involved in this unique dating process. At the end of the journey, this gentleman will have had an unforgettable experience, made new friendships and quite possibly found true love. But the big question is: After all of this, if he pops the question, will she accept? Chris Harrison guides this romantic journey, serving as friend and confidant, as Guiney and the women learn more about each other. Having found true love with a college sweetheart who is now his wife, Harrison is in a unique position to offer sound advice during this process. Episode 1 Air Date: 09/24/2003 The newest installment of The Bachelor begins with a behind-the-scenes look at how the show went about finding the 25 bachelorettes out of the tens of thousands that applied, followed by an in-depth look at the real Bob — not just the cut-up from The Bachelorette you thought you knew. We get to see Bob's childhood photos, see him as valedictorian of his high school and in uniform as quarterback at Michigan State, and we get to meet his business partner. The show then goes on the road, to surprise all 25 bachelorettes with the news that they've been chosen to be on The Bachelor. The ladies then all travel to L.A. to meet the possible man of their dreams. Before Bob gets to meet the women vying to be his bride, he sits down with Chris to talk a little bit about how he is approaching this process. They talk a little bit about how Bob is in a completely different place than any other Bachelor, as he has been married and divorced. Bob talks about how he still loves his ex-wife, and that she's still a great person, but that things sometimes just happen. Bob also says that he doesn't have a particular look in mind for the future Mrs. Guiney, but that he does know she needs to have a personality. The interview complete, Chris takes Bob out front to meet the bachelorettes. The First Party The ladies arrive and the greetings begin. After all 25 women are in the house, Bob joins them, and the party begins. Bob says hello to the group, and immediately starts putting the girls at ease with his sense of humor. He toasts them all, and starts to get to know them. The girls begin to feel the competition, as time with Bob is short. The girls start to interrupt each other for the chance to steal Bob for a few precious minutes. Bob starts to realize how hard it is to be The Bachelor, and comments that it is going to be a lot harder to pick the first 15 women than he originally thought. With Kelly Jo, Bob gets his first kiss of the show, when she asks if she can have one. After the brief kiss, she tells him that there is more to come. Misty gets upset when she has to share her time getting to know Bob with someone else, and is then interrupted by Estella, who steals Bob away. Eventually, Bob gets together with the whole group of women, when Chris interrupts witht he news that there are going to be several surprises ths season, and the first one is upon them — Bob's mother Nora is there to help Bob make his decision. Bob was surprised, but happy to see her there. Nora wastes no time with the women, asking all of them in-depth questions. Nora confides to us that she hopes the next Mrs. Guniey is in the house. Lee-Ann is nervous that she is not going to get a rose, and asks Nora for help, as she's not aggressive and old-fashioned. After getting to spend time with almost everyone, Bob takes his mother aside for a chance to talk with her. She tells him that she really likes Kristin, Lee-Ann and Karin, and advises him to pick the women he gets along with best. Bob then walks his mother to the door and kisses her good-bye. Chris ends the party and brings Bob to the deliberation room. Chris asks how things went, and Bob is a little down that he didn't get to know everyone as well as he would have liked. Bob also says he was touched how all of the women reacted to him when they first saw him. He says Lee-Ann, Estella, Julie, Karin, Shea all impressed him coming out of the limo. About the kiss with Kelly Jo, he thought it was just a moment. Bob tells Chris there were definitely some women he connected with. Chris heads out to brief the ladies on the Rose Ceremony, and leaves Bob to make his decision. The Rose Ceremony After the formalities of the ceremony are presented, Chris collects Bob. Bob thanks them for all taking the time to be with him, and asks them if they can bear with him while he takes things one step at a time. He then offers roses to Kelly Jo, Lee-Ann, Misty, Lindsay K., Kristi, Mary, Jennifer, Karin, Brooke, Estella, Antoinette, Meredith, Jenny, Lanah, and Lindsay D. Episode 2 Air Date: 10/01/2003 The Episode begins with the girls moving in to the bachelorette's house, and are told that the group dates will begin. But there's a crisis — Antoinette has become very ill, and has been taken to the hospital. At the hospital, Antoinette expresses concern over not being at the house on this important day, and that she fears falling behind the other girls. At the house, Chris tells the girls to be ready for a twist — that at one of the group dates, one of the bachelorettes will not return. First Group Date: Day Trip to San Francisco Brooke, Meredith, Karin, Kelly Jo, and Antoinette (absent) Meredith feels bad that Antoinette will not be able to go on the San Francisco date, but that's one less girl to worry about. Bob picks them up, and they fly to San Francisco for the day. On a boat trip out on the bay, Bob talks to his dates about what he wants at his wedding. Bob takes Brooke aside for some private time, as he feels he didn't get much time with her the first night. Brooke tells Bob that she's passive, but that she's there for him. Back at the house, Antoinette returns, and feels like an outsider coming into the house, where she learns that she's missed her date. In San Francisco, the group is met by Mayor Willie Brown on a cable car, and then go to a hotel suite to hang out. In the suite, Bob takes Meredith to the bedroom to get to know her better, where they lay down on the bed to talk. Eventually, they begin to feel a connection, and they kiss. They return to the group, and Bob confesses to the camera that he's glad the elimination date did not take place, as he thinks all four of these women are great. Second Group Date: Day Trip to L.A. Kristi, Estella, Jennifer, Lindsay D. and Misty Bob picks the girls up for a helicopter tour of L.A., and then a trip to a hotel, where they have the pool all to themselves. Estella and Lindsay express concern about Misty, and see her as a threat. Bob and Misty get some one-on-one time in the cabana, where they seem to hit it off — and kiss. Bob then goes off with Estella for some alone time in the massage tent, where they connect while talking about their families. Misty admits to Kristi that she kissed Bob, which makes Kristi jealous. After the sun sets, they have a poolside cocktail party, and Jenn feels that she is under a lot of pressure to make an impression — and that she's not up for it. Chris interrupts the party to tell the group that they are on an elimination date. He has four white roses, and Bob must make his decision immediately. The girls are all very upset at the idea of not seeing Bob again, and are visibly shaken. Elimination Date Rose Ceremony Bob tells the ladies that he didn't expect this at all, and that he hopes they can bear with him. He then offers roses to Estella, Misty, Kristi, and Jennifer. Lindsay says goodbye to the others, and Bob then walks her away. Bob confesses that he had not had the opportunity to get to know her as well as the others, and that's why he had to offer roses to the others. In the limo, Lindsay feels she had a better connection with Bob than Misty had, and that Misty isn't right for Bob. Back at the house, the last date box arrives, and Antoinette is included in the invitation. Jenny expresses that it's unfair to have 6 girls on one date, while the other dates only had 4 and 5 girls. Third Group Date: A Night Out in Hollywood Lindsay K., Lee-Ann, Lanah, Antoinette, Mary and Jenny The group takes a limo to the Chinese Theatre, where a huge crowd of people are waiting to see Bob lay his hands in concrete. They then go to their own private burlesque show, and eventually all of the ladies end up on stage dancing for Bob. Mary really gives Bob a show, practically mooning him. Lee-Ann takes Bob upstairs, away from the group for some alone time, which upsets Lindsay. Lee-Ann confesses she's infatuated with him , and after talking for a bit, they end up kissing — a lot. The other girls start to get antsy because Bob and Lee-Ann are gone for so long, but they eventually return. Lee-Ann describes her kiss to the camera as very passionate, and Lindsay confides that she doesn't feel she's made a great connection with Bob. Rose Ceremony Bob steps before the ladies, and tells them he's laughed at every Bachelor who's complained about how hard a Rose Ceremony is, but that under these circumstances, those other guys would be right. He tells them he appreciates them being here, and then offers roses to Meredith, Jenny, Kelly Jo, Antoinette, Mary, Brooke, Karin, Misty, Estella and Lee-Ann. Episode 3 Air Date: 10/08/2003 At the Bachelor's Pad, Bob relaxes while recovering from the last Rose Ceremony, but with a renewed excitement about the future. Meanwhile, at the ladies' house, Chris calls the bachelorettes together to inform them of the next twist in the show. It's time for two group dates and two one-on-one dates, with the bachelorettes themselves deciding who will get the one-on-one dates. A private booth is set up, where each bachelorette will reveal who they think is the most compatible and least compatible with Bob — and they can't vote for themselves. While the picks are taking place, the women starts crying over the stress of choosing. It seems the women are making a concerted effort at choosing Lee-Ann as the least compatible with Bob, in the hopes of depriving her of a date. Antoinette has the most difficulty, not wanting to name anyone. After the voting is over, the ladies are told that both the most-compatible and least-compatible will be receiving the one-on-one dates. First One-On-One Date The first date box arrives, and reveals who was voted most-compatible: Meredith. Jenny expresses her jealousy over the pick, but Meredith is very mature in not allowing her emotions to put the other girls off. As she gets ready for her date, the phone rings, and she is called to answer. It's her mother with some bad news — her grandmother has just passed away. Her mother encourages her to stay in Los Angeles to continue on, and the cameras are turned off for a few minutes to allow her some privacy. When the cameras start rolling again, all of the other women are supportive of Meredith, heartbroken at her plight. The mood in the house turns down, but the girls all want her to have her date, and do their best to get her ready. Bob arrives to pick Meredith up, and picks up on the vibe in the house. As he and Meredith get into the limo, she tells him the bad news, and asks Bob to just make her laugh. Bob is touched when he finds out that despite everything that's happened, she still wanted to spend the day with him. In the limousine, he asks her if she likes horses, and she tells him she's terrified of them. He teases her, telling her that he was just wondering, but of course, they arrive at the beach where two horses are waiting for them. Despite her dislike of horses, she gives it a try and saddles up, and they take a ride down the beach. After their ride, they roll up their pants and take a walk along the shore, where they find a giant sand castle set up just for them. They sit down and drink some wine, and then eat some oysters — another dislike of Meredith's, but she still gives them a try. Bob confesses that given the circumstances, with everything she's done, he think's Meredith is amazing. The conversation turns deep as Bob talks about some of his family's struggles, and it becomes obvious that Bob has been affected emotionally, which surprises both of them. There is some serious connecting between the two of them, but Bob says it's time to let go of everything and just have some fun. After the sun sets, they go into the sand castle for dinner, where Bob tells her that his heart is with her — and they kiss passionately. They snuggle up on a lounge chair and continue to kiss. He confesses that kissing her made him feel like he was kissing someone for the first time. First Group Date Mary, Kelly Jo and Misty Back at the house the second date box arrives, inviting Mary, Kelly Jo and Misty on a night of "jamming and jammies." Bob arrives to take his dates on a "Karaoke jam in their pajamas." They head into Hollywood to a private room, where they drink and start to sing. Bob first goes up to sing with Mary, and when he starts to sing, the women are shocked at how good he sounds. The party kicks into high-gear, and eventually Bob takes Misty away for some one-on-one time. They get to know each other even more, which seems to win Bob's heart, and eventually leads to their second passionate kiss. They return to the party for some more singing, and then Bob goes off with Kelly Jo for some alone time. While they get to know each other (kiss heavily), Mary and Misty decide to interrupt them and get their man back — which frustrates Kelly Jo. Bob confesses he is falling for several women, and that he was just with three of them. At the house, Lee-Ann tells the other girls that she thinks the other girls are all treating her poorly because they saw her connect with Bob. She goes on to say that she feels like she can't trust some of the girls. Estella suggests Lee-Ann talk to some of the other girls she has a problem with, but Lee-Ann makes it clear that she's only there for Bob. Estella tells her it's her own choice to be miserable. The final date box arrives at the house, where Karin is told that the contents of the box is worth one million dollars. The bachelorettes all meet in the living room, where the box is opened — and a dress is waiting for Lee-Ann, who has been chosen as the least-compatible with Bob. Lee-Ann's date, and the second group date, will take place next week. Episode 4 Air Date: 10/15/2003 Second One-On-One Date: Queen Mary Lee-Ann Bob picks Lee-Ann up in a beautiful limousine for their date to the Queen Mary, wanting to see if there's something he's missing about his date, who has been chosen as "least-compatible." At the ladies' house, Karin is helping Lee-Ann rush to get ready for the date. Lee-Ann is thankful the others voted her least-compatible, and is convinced some of the girls are jealous of her. The couple head down to Long Beach and are share a very open conversation, which impreses Bob. They get to the boat and have a deck-top dinner as the sun sets, where they talk about the girls choosing Lee-Ann as the least compatible. After dinner, Bob puts his jacket around Lee-Ann as they are first treated to a private fireworks show, which Lee-Ann describes as amazing, and are then treated to a private quartet on the deck, which plays classical music while the dance and kiss under the stars. As the date ends, Lee-Ann says she would be shocked if she didn't get a rose at the next Rose Ceremony. Back at the house, the date box arrives at the house, inviting the remaining five girls on a swim date. After the excitement of the box wears off, Meredith and Kelly Jo talk about the tragedy that befell Meredith earlier in the week. Second Group Date: Water Park Estella, Karin, Jenny, Brooke and Antoinette The group date goes to a water park, which has been closed just for their date. The group has fun riding the slides, except for Karin, who doesn't care for them. Karin seems convinced she will NOT be getting a rose. Afterwards, the group takes a bus back to the Bachelor's house, where Bob makes a concerted effort to spend one-on-one time with all of the ladies. Jenny says she feels like she's not opening up to Bob, but Antoinette feels a connection with Bob during their time together. With Estella, Bob tells her that he was surprised he'd be on a five-person date with her, and they connect again, their time together ending with a kiss. Rose Ceremony Going into the ceremony, Bob confesses that he knows five of the women he wants to offer roses to, but is undecided on the sixth. Bob again tries to spend time with as many of the women as possible, trying to figure out who will get the final rose of the night. Brooke opens up to Bob about her family, which makes an impression. While Bob is spending time with Misty, the girls all toast each other, and toast to staying in touch — a toast that noticably leaves Lee-Ann out of it. Bob sits down with Kelly Jo, who tells him that her heart is open for him. In the house, Karin takes Lee-Ann aside to offer her some friendly advice, but Lee-Ann doesn't want to hear it — she tells Karin that she only wants to stay if she's having fun, and right now, she's not having fun. Lee-Ann goes on to say that she deserves better than this, and she shouldn't have to share a guy with nine other ladies. Karin asks Lee-Ann if she's OK, and Lee-Ann tells her not to worry about her. Lee-Ann asks if they can talk about something else, as she's sick of talking about Bob every day. When Bob comes to ask Lee-Ann outside, Karin tries to take Lee-Ann's drink away rom her — which Lee-Ann pulls away, reluctant to let her champagne go. When Bob and Lee-Ann sit down, Bob asks the clearly angry Lee-Ann what's going on, but Lee-Ann claims she's fine. Bob tells her that he was really glad to get to know her on their date, and it meant a lot to him; Lee-Ann coldly acknowledges her agreement. Bob again asks her what's going on, and Lee-Ann says nothing is going on. When Bob asks her if she's still glad to be there, she answers "sure," which Bob doesn't buy. Lee-Ann finally opens up to say that she's just hanging on, and isn't having a good time when she's not with Bob. She goes on to say that if she stays in the game, she'll be spending most of her time miserable, all for one day of having fun. Lee-Ann tells Bob she wants to know where she stands in relation to the other girls, and Bob tells her that he wants to make sure everyone he wants to offer a rose to still wants one. Lee-Ann finally reveals that she's upset because everything was great until their first group date, but since then, the girls have not been talking to her. With Lee-Ann on the verge of tears, Bob tells her that he likes talking to her, and would like to take her for a walk before going back inside. They walk to the back of the backyard, where Lee-Ann tearfully opens up, admitting she didn't expect it to be this hard. She also tells him that he has no idea how she feels about him, which is at odds with her desire to just go home. Lee-Ann tells him that she has no idea where she stands, to which Bob tells her she should. Lee-Ann then tells him that if she's not going to be one of the last girls standing, he should send her home — to which he replies, "duly noted." Before he goes into the deliberation room with Chris, Bob sits with all of the ladies and tells them he wants them to know how seriously he is taking this. Alone with Chris, he tells him that he was surprised by some of the responses from the ladies, and that all of the roses are now up for grabs. At the ceremony, Bob steps before the women and tells them they amaze him. Bob then offers roses to Mary, Kelly Jo, Lee-Ann, Estella, Meredith, and Brooke. After the ceremony, Lee-Ann says it'll still be hard to share a house with five other women who want Bob, but it will be easier on everyone — especially her — now that Jenny is gone. Episode 5 Air Date: 10/22/2003 The girls are immediately introduced to a few of Bob's friends: Greg, Bob's business partner; Katina, Greg's wife; and Jamie from The Bachelorette. They are told that these three dear friends of Bob's will be moving in with them, and they will decide which of the ladies will get one of three private dates with Bob. The house guests have a personality quiz that they will be giving to each of the lades, and the fun begins. The ladies all handle the questions well, and we learn that Brooke is a virgin — and waiting for the right man. Greg, Katina and Jamie pick Mary for Bob's first date, because she said she was falling in love with Bob. First One-On-One Date: Bay Area Mary An excited Bob picks Mary up, and they head off to the Bay Area for some quality time. They arrive in the evening, and drive to an amusement park that has been opened just for them. They tour the park, riding all of the rides, eating cotton candy, and acting like kids. They kiss many times, and then enjoy a candle-lit dinner under a gazeebo. They talk about having to move to another city to be with a loved one, which Mary says she is willing to do, but that she still would want to see her family in Florida as much as possible. Bob points out that the majority of people in Michigan who own a second home own them in Florida — which seems to solve the potential problem. They enjoy the rest of the evening, relaxed and comfortable with one another, Mary confiding that the more time she spends with Bob, the more she loves him. Back at the house, Lee-Ann grows more and more frustrated with being the source of controversy in the house. She asks all of the ladies into the living room, where she tearfully apologizes to the group for making them feel that she didn't want to be friends with them, and offers to do whatever it takes to fix the situation. The girls ask Lee-Ann to just be herself, because they've seen so many sides of her. Second One-On-One Date: Las Vegas Estella The next day Bob arrives to take Estella to Sin City. Bob, thrilled that his friends have so far chosen two women he really wanted to be alone with, confides he thinks Estella is beautiful. They arrive at the hotel and have a private pool-side dinner, where they share an intimate kiss. Estella tells Bob that she's not afraid to open up with him, and that she lives every moment to its fullest. They then head up to a suite, which is just massive. As they sit overlooking the city, it hits Estella that Bob is also dating the other women, and she can't hide her emotions. Estella needs to take a moment to herself, where she confesses how much she's falling for Bob — and how difficult things have become. Back in Malibu, the datebox arrives, inviting Lee-Ann, Meredith and Brook on a group date, meaning Kelly Jo has secured the final one-on-one date. Mary is visibly shaken by the announcement, and cries at the thought of other women out with Bob, having as good a time as she had. Group Date: Hot Air Balloon Ride/Botanical Gardens Lee-Ann, Meredith and Brooke The next morning, the group date begins early, and they go for a gorgeous ride. They then head to a botanical garden for a game of croquet, where Bob tries to spend private time with each of the ladies. He first heads off with Meredith, where he tells her that he's not sure what he's going to do because he likes all of the women so much. Meredith has a hard time accepting that he feels the same about all six. He next goes off with Brooke, where he tells her that having a one-on-one date has no bearing on his emotions about any of the bachelorettes. He finishes with Lee-Ann, where he tells her that he's having a strong connection with everyone — news Lee-Ann is not happy to hear. The group board a bus back to the house, Bob lamenting his difficult morning. Third One-On-One Date: Bachelor Pad Kelly Jo That same night, Kelly Jo arrives with live lobsters and corn, ready to cook a meal. They prepare their meal together, laughing and having fun, and then Kelly Jo shares a photo album of hers with Bob. She shares a lot about her life, and confesses that it just felt right to do so. They talk more, and then go for a dip in the hot-tub, where they kiss. Kelly Jo confides that she is falling head-over-heels in love with Bob. Rose Ceremony Bob is still undecided, and not looking forward to sending two of the ladies home. Mary takes Bob aside first, and tells him she misses him — and that she really wants a rose, but more than that, she wants him. Bob then steals Lee-Ann, and they go out on to the patio, but the other girls listen in on the conversation and kid around about wanting to see Lee-Ann not get a rose. Despite the other girl's wishes, Lee-Ann remains convinced she is getting a rose. With Kelly Jo, Bob lets her know he had a great time with her the previous night. Chris arrives to collect Bob and bring him to the deliberation room. They talk about how the decision Bob makes will have an impact on these women's families. Bob then watches the private messages, and thinks about his upcoming choice. Chris tells the women that after the ceremony, only four will remain, and that Bob will be travelling to their hometowns for their next dates. Bob then offers roses to Kelly Jo, Mary, Estella and Meredith. Brooke confides she regrets not letting Bob know how she felt about him, and Lee-Ann thinks something must have happened that she doesn't know about. Episode 6 Air Date: 10/29/2003 First Hometown Date: Tampa, Florida Mary Bob jumps right in and meets Mary at her home in Tampa. After a warm embrace, they go inside to catch up with each other. Mary confesses that she is in love with Bob, and knows she wants him as her husband. After spending the day together just hanging out, they head to her sister Carmen's house, where her family is waiting. They are greeted by Mary's parents Juan and Juana, and her brother and sisters. Because her family is from Cuba, they speak very little English, which presents an interesting challenge to Bob. Bob does his best to break through the language barrier, and let her father know his intentions are good. Over dinner, Carmen asks if Bob knows what he's feeling, and he gives the not-so-comforting response that he feels stronger about some of the women than others. Juan tells his family that if Bob cannot do something good for Mary, he should do her no harm. Mary takes Carmen into the bathroom to talk in private, where she tells Carmen that she knows what she wants. Carmen tells her that she just doesn't want her to be hurt. After dinner, they say their goodbyes, and go back to Mary's house just to hang out. They talk some more, and things eventually turn romantic. Both confess to the camera that they have strong feelings for each other, but Bob realizes she's looking for something very firm and solid, and has to think about if that's what's right for him. Second Hometown Date: Wheaton, Illinois Kelly Jo Kelly Jo meets Bob, and they ride to her family's home to meet her mother Barbara, aunt Mary, sister Keisha and her gradmother Pooka. The greeting is unbelievably exciting, and it's obvious where Kelly Jo gets her energy from. Kelly Jo confesses she's bummed her father is no longer with them to meet Bob. Pooka tells Bob that Joe, Kelly Jo's father, would have loved him. Kelly Jo's family easily pick up on the strong connection between Bob and Kelly Jo. Barbara decides that they're having too much fun, and wants to get a little more serious, so she takes Bob out onto the deck and tells him what Kelly Jo has to offer. Barbara emotionally tells Bob all of the wonderful things about Kelly Jo, and clearly has an impact on Bob. As the sun sets, they say their goodbyes and head to Bob's hotel. On the way there, Bob tells Kelly Jo that it couldn't have gone better. Back at the hotel, Kelly Jo tells Bob she never wants to hold anything back from the ones she loves. They cuddle and kiss, and Kelly Jo confesses that if she doesn't get a rose, she'll be heartbroken. Third Hometown Date: Portland, Oregon Meredith Bob arrives, hoping to determine that their connection is based on real emotions, and not just on grieving. Meredith hopes to open up with Bob, and let him know how she feels. The two go for a swim and just hang out, very comfortable with each other. Meredtih asks Bob if he would join her on a trip to her grandmother's grave, which he accepts. As it's her first trip there, she's very upset. Bob is very patient and tender, letting Meredith take her time in the moment. Afterward, they go to her parent's home, where her mother and father, Sandy and Ed, and her brother Matt are waiting for them. Over dinner, Bob toasts the family, thanking them for letting him into their home, and he offers condolences for their recent loss. The hard questions begin when Ed asks what Bob will do if everything turns bad for him, and Bob says if he gets lemons, he'll just make lemonade. Ed asks Meredith what she likes about Bob, and she tells her family that she's blown away by Bob. They finish dinner and say their goodbyes, and Meredith walks Bob out to the car. Bob tells her that he loves her family, and they share a farewell kiss. Fourth Hometown Date: Beverly Hills, California Estella For his final date, Bob arrives at Estella's house to spend the day. Bob wants to see if they can just hang out and relax with each other. They collapse on the couch and talk for a while, until Estella's mother arrives. They open a bottle of wine and all sit around together talking, with Estella's mother also asking some hard questions. However, when she asks what Bob is looking for, and he tells her someone with a big heart, that's all she needs to hear. They go into the dining room, where Bob asks Estella how she now feels about Bob dating her friends. Estella tells him that it was just a moment that she had to come to grips with, and did. Bob leaves Estella with her mother to talk, and her mother says she sees a man with love in his heart to share. She tells Estella that he's worth chasing after. She takes her leave, Bob kisses Estella goodbye, and the hometown dates are finally over. Rose Ceremony As Bob watches the private video messages from the ladies, the women are greeted one at a time by Chris, and are given no time to socialize before the Rose Ceremony. Before Bob comes out, Chris tells the bachelorettes that he has never seen Bob struggle with a decision as much as he has that night. Bob comes before the four women and tells them that he feels like he is the wrong man for this job, as he would have been lucky to have met any of the ladies. He goes on to say if he had four roses, he'd give four out — but he doesn't. Bob then offers roses to Estella, Kelly Jo, and Mary. Bob walks Meredith out, and they sit down to talk for a moment. Bob thanks her for everything, and she tells him that she wants to be with someone who wants to be with her — and she wants the same for him. She goes on to tell him that he's got three great ladies in the house, but if it doesn't work out, she's there. Episode 7 Air Date: 11/05/2003 On his way to his first Dream Date, Bob expresses how nervous he is, as he has developed strong feelings for each of the ladies. First Dream Date: Anchorage, Alaska Kelly Jo Kelly Jo arrives by helicopter to meet Bob in the middle of a glacier. They spend the day travelling across the glacier by dog sled, taking in the gorgeous scenery, trying to determine if they are compatible. They then travel back down and share a hot tub in the middle of the forest, where they talk about having kids — which Kelly Jo says she has time for, and isn't looking to rush into. They change for dinner, and then take a tram to the top of a mountain, where they have dinner. Over their meal, Kelly Jo gets serious, and tells Bob that she is in love with him. She walks up to Bob, who is waiting by the ocean. He tells her that meeting a girl like her has meant the world to him, and that he is grateful for how loving and open she has been with him. However, he tells her that she deserves all of that in return, and as much as he cares for her, he just doesn't know if they're meant to be together. He tells her it kills him to have to to say that. When he asks her if she's alright, she tells him "no" and pulls her hands away. As he tells her that everything she's given him has been amazing, she tells him she understands, and it is obvious how hurt she is int he way that she tries to pull away from Bob. Bob walks the now-distant Kelly Jo to the limo, and he admits that breaking up with Kelly Jo has been the hardest thing he's ever had to do. In the limousine, Kelly Jo says her heart is broken. she feels angry, shocked, sad and alone. The pain of the break-up now over, Bob can finally try to move away from the hurtful emotions over what just happened and focus on Estella. She makes her way down to Bob, who kisses her warmly and tells her she looks beautiful. He nervously thanks her for coming, and tells her he knows how hard it is to do what she's doing. He tells her that he came into this as a big cynic, because he didn't know it was possible to fall in love. But since he first met her, she's stood out in his mind. He goes on to list all the things he loves about her, and then shows her the ring he's chosen. He tells her that it's for her right hand, and is a symbol of hope and the future. He tells her it's not that he doesn't want to get engaged, he just wants to make sure he can give her what she deserves. They kiss, and Estella is very happy. He tells her that every time she looks at the ring, he waqnts her to remember their journey, and where they are going. He then puts the ring on her right hand, and they kiss again. He then offers her the final rose, which she gladly accepts. Estella goes on and on about how happy she is, and knew in her heart that they were meant to be together.
